Workplace Contact Gate

Live. Before you call a consumer at work, email a work address or talk to their employer: what the FDCPA, Reg F and California allow.

Checks each planned workplace contact: calls to a work number, emails to a work address, texts to a work phone, visits, and calls or letters to the employer. Blocks contact when the employer prohibits it or the consumer said work is inconvenient, when the consumer has an attorney, and emails to an employer-provided address unless the consumer used it or agreed (Reg F 1006.22(f)(3)). Employer contacts are limited to location information (no mention of the debt, once per person) or a post-judgment garnishment order; California also requires writing first and 15 days before calling (Civil Code 1788.12).
