Payment Allocation Check
Live. Split one consumer payment across several accounts the lawful way: the consumer's direction first, never onto an unverified disputed debt, oldest-first by default, with remittance-ready receipt lines.
When one payment covers more than one debt, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (15 U.S.C. 1692h) says it must go where the consumer directs, and no part of it may be applied to a debt the consumer disputes. Allocate follows the consumer's direction first (recorded as written, oral, online or by the agent), holds any directed amount for a disputed debt that has not been verified or a debt in an open bankruptcy case (automatic stay, 11 U.S.C. 362) and asks you to contact the consumer, and warns when a payment on a time-barred debt could restart the statute of limitations in some states. Money left after the direction is split by your default rule (oldest first unless you pick newest first, highest or lowest balance first, or pro rata to the cent), which skips disputed, bankruptcy and time-barred debts. You get the split per account with balances before and after, held and excluded accounts with reasons, unapplied funds, a plain receipt for the consumer, and payment lines ready for Remittance Statement Builder. Nothing is stored. Per payment.
