Language Access Check
Coming soon. Collecting from consumers who prefer Spanish or another language: translated notices, Spanish offers and city and state rules.
Checks how you serve a consumer who prefers a language other than English. Translated validation notices must go with or after the English notice and be complete and accurate (Reg F 1006.34(e)); if your notice offers a Spanish or other-language copy you must be able to provide it (1006.34(d)(3)(vi)); conversations in another language need a fluent agent or interpreter and the debt-collector disclosure in that language; language is asked, never inferred from a name or national origin. Adds New York City's duty to ask for, record and keep the language preference and California's translation rule for agreements negotiated in Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Vietnamese or Korean (Civil Code 1632). Returns ok, ok with recommendations, or fix required. Up to 1,000 accounts per call. Early access pending legal review. Not legal advice.
