Collection License Check

Coming soon. Before you collect in a state: does your activity need a collection-agency license, registration or bond there, and are the licenses you hold current?

For each state where your consumers live, checks whether third-party collection, debt buying, passive debt buying, first-party collection or a law firm needs a state collection-agency license, registration or bond, and whether the licenses you hold are current: licensed, license_needed, expired, not_required, review or not_modeled, with the regulator, citation and NMLS use. Partial table: Arizona, California (Debt Collection Licensing Act), Colorado, Connecticut, Florida registration, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nevada, New Jersey bond, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas bond, Washington, Wisconsin and the New York City DCWP license; Georgia, New York State, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia have no statewide license. Adds the CFPB larger-participant test (12 CFR 1090.105) and remote-collector notes. Early access pending legal review. Not legal advice.
