Chain of Title Check
Coming soon. Can you prove you own this purchased debt? Check every transfer before a demand, a lawsuit or a resale.
Checks a purchased account's chain of title, link by link from the charge-off creditor to the current owner: no gaps, dates in order, a bill of sale or assignment and an account-level schedule that names this account for every transfer, and the agency's or law firm's placement authority. Flags what each purpose needs: the original date of first delinquency for credit reporting (FCRA 623(a)(5)), account documents before a lawsuit, no resale of paid, settled, discharged or identity-theft debts (Reg F 1006.30(b)(1)), and no ownership claim you cannot document (FDCPA 1692e(2)(A), 1692e(10)). Adds state debt-buyer rules: California Civ. Code 1788.52 (information required before any written demand), New York CPLR 3016(j) and 22 NYCRR 208.14-a, Texas Rule 508.2, Maryland Rule 3-306(d) and North Carolina 58-70-155. Party labels and yes/no facts only. Early access pending legal review. Not legal advice.
